A comprehensive analysis of high-performance cable support systems

FRP cable tray is a cable support system made of glass fiber reinforced plastic, which has excellent corrosion resistance, insulation and mechanical strength. As an important facility for modern cable laying, FRP cable tray is widely used in power, communication, chemical, petroleum, sewage treatment and other industries. Compared with traditional metal cable trays, FRP cable trays have significant advantages such as light weight, easy installation and long service life, and are particularly suitable for special environments with high humidity and strong corrosion.

FRP Ladder Type Cable Tray

FRP Ladder Type Cable Tray

Feature

The FRP ladder cable tray is composed of side beams and crossbars on both sides, shaped like a ladder, and has the following structural features:

  • Open design: easy to dissipate heat and maintain, suitable for laying large-diameter cables
  • Adjustable crossbar spacing: standard spacing is 150mm, which can be adjusted according to the cable diameter
  • Side beam reinforcement: adopt “I” or “C” cross-section design to improve overall rigidity
  • Surface treatment: ordinary or anti-slip crossbars are optional to prevent cable sliding
  • Performance advantage analysis
Excellent ventilation and heat dissipation performance: the open structure increases the cable heat dissipation area by more than 50%, which can reduce the cable working temperature by 10-15℃
  • Outstanding bearing capacity: through the optimization of structural design, the span of the ladder bridge can reach 4m (heavy duty)
  • Easy installation: bolt connection, no special tools are required, and the construction efficiency is increased by 30%
  • Easy maintenance: the open structure is convenient for cable addition and reduction and troubleshooting
  • Good economy: saves 20-30% of materials compared with the same specification trough bridge

  • Bracket installation: It is recommended to use fiberglass brackets, and the spacing is determined according to the load calculation
  • Cable fixing: Cable binding straps should be installed every 1.5m for large spans
  • Multi-layer layout: The spacing between the upper and lower layers is not less than 300mm, and the control cable tray should be on the upper layer
  • Wall penetration treatment: Protective sleeves should be installed when passing through the wall
  • Grounding measures: The entire length should be connected to the grounding trunk line at no less than 2 locations
  • Main cable channels for power plants and substations
  • Power cable laying for large industrial and mining enterprises
  • Cable wiring system for data center computer rooms
  • Vertical wiring in shafts of high-rise buildings
  • Outdoor overhead cable laying projects
FRP Cable Tray

FRP Trough Type Cable Tray

The FRP trough cable tray adopts a fully enclosed structure, consisting of three parts: trough bottom, trough side and cover plate, forming a complete protection space. This structural design gives the trough cable tray the following significant features:

Feature

Fully enclosed protection: effectively prevents dust, moisture and corrosive gases from intruding, and protects cables from external environmental influences

High-strength design: adopts thickened wall panels and reinforcing ribs, and the load-bearing capacity can reach Class C (heavy) standards

Modular combination: the standard length is generally 2 meters/section, which can be flexibly combined through accessories such as straight-through, elbows, and tees

Smooth surface: the inner wall is smooth and burr-free to avoid damage to the cable insulation layer during laying

  • Bracket spacing: Bracket spacing is generally 1.5-2m when installed horizontally, and no more than 1.5m when installed vertically
  • Grounding requirements: Although FRP itself is insulated, a dedicated grounding wire is still required for safety reasons
  • Expansion joint treatment: When the straight section exceeds 30m, a telescopic compensation device should be installed
  • Turning radius: The minimum turning radius should not be less than the minimum allowable turning radius for laying cables in the bridge
  • Blocking measures: Fire blocking should be done when crossing different fire zones

FRP trough cable bridge is particularly suitable for the following scenarios:

Cable laying in corrosive environments of chemical companies

Power line layout of underground integrated pipe corridors.

Cable protection in wet workshops of food processing plants.

Electric power engineering in high salt fog environments in coastal areas.

Cable system construction of sewage treatment plants.

FRP Cable Tray

FRP Box Type Cable Tray

Feature

FRP box-type cable tray is a composite structure between trough type and ladder type, with the following characteristics:

  • Semi-enclosed design: the bottom is a ladder structure, and the upper part is equipped with an openable cover
  • Multi-functional combination: it has both the protection of the trough type and the heat dissipation of the ladder type
  • Modular design: standard section + special section (horizontal bend, vertical bend, variable diameter straight, etc.) combination
  • Reinforced structure: key parts are thickened and reinforced

  • Grounding system: Set a grounding point every 20m, and the grounding resistance is ≤4Ω
  • Expansion joint setting: When the straight section exceeds 50m, a thermal expansion and contraction compensation device should be set
  • Fire prevention measures: Fireproof partitions should be used to block when crossing fire partitions
  • FRP box-type cable tray is particularly suitable for:
  • Comprehensive cable laying system for subways and tunnels
  • Power and weak current wiring in large commercial complexes
  • Cable channel construction for airport terminals
  • Cable layout in special areas of hospitals
  • Cable laying for auxiliary equipment in nuclear power plants

High Strength

FRP (glass reinforced plastic) material has high specific strength and weighs only 1/4 of steel, which is easy to transport and install, and has excellent bearing capacity.

Corrosion Resistance

Acid and alkali resistant, salt spray resistant, moisture resistant, suitable for harsh environments such as chemical industry, sewage treatment, and offshore platforms.

Insulation and anti-interference

Non-conductive, suitable for high-voltage power systems to avoid leakage risks. Some models can be equipped with a metal shielding layer to enhance the ability to resist electromagnetic interference (EMI).

Convenient Installation

Modular design supports multiple connection methods such as straight-through, elbow, three-way, and four-way to meet different wiring needs.

Fire retardant performance

Made of flame retardant resin, in line with GB 8624-2012 B1 fire protection standard, effectively delaying the spread of fire and ensuring cable safety.

Long Life

Compared with traditional metal cable trays (such as galvanized steel and aluminum alloy), it has a longer service life and lower maintenance costs.
